We are unfortunately no longer taking patients with active ICBC claims. The rules and guidelines they require do not align with the core values of Heart in Hands' practice.

We will continue to wear masks for the duration of our time together, and sanitize hands upon arrival.

Re: ICBC
As I am learning and preparing to be able to direct bill ICBC. I have decided that the structure that was originally chosen for active claim appointments could be done better. So I've updated it to reflect a more ethically driven strategy. The appointments will instead - not have extra time added to them. If it says "60 minutes" then that is the length of the appointment and all necessary assessment, evaluation, treatment, and patient education will be done within the 60 minutes.

A few updates here.
- We are a paramedical health service and thus we do NOT require you to have a vaccine passport to receive care.
- As of May 1 2021, ICBC has implemented a new model of Enhanced Care for anyone in BC that has been injured in a MVA. They require RMT's to follow their specific set of guidelines that lead the Patient and Therapist towards reaching goals of symptom & functional improvement with a goal of discharge.
I will be working towards being able to direct bill with ICBC over the next 6-10 weeks. It is a very time consuming process to understand the needs of this new system. And once settled into it, I anticipate about 15 extra minutes per treatment that will be needed to complete appropriate charting and follow up. So I will be creating new appointment types with new prices just for Active ICBC Claims, that have an extra 15 minutes added to each treatment. That extra time may be used for assessment, treatment plans, home-care education, paperwork, admin work with ICBC. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2021 - I will be raising my rates for the '60 min appointment' as well as the 'First Appointment' starting January 1, 2022. It will go from $110 to $115 to reflect the CMT Fee Guide. And $110 to $140. All other rates remain the same.

We are a few days into Phase 3 of BC Reopening. We will be continuing to prioritize mask usage, hand sanitization and cleaning protocols. Some new highlights are:
- We will no longer be wearing a lab coat / shield / hair covering
- No more temperature check / COVID consent & waiver
- The prescreening questions have changed
- We will still not be providing mobile work.
- The cancellation policy remains the same.

So sorry to those of you that have tried to come on to this website in the last week and weren't able to access it. It is back up and running now, thanks to a very kind employee of my website hosting company =)
Also, as promised - We are seeing less commotion with the Pandemic, so I will be reinstating a few things such as:
** Until we have guidance from our PHO, CMTBC, & Insurance Company, we will continue with our sanitation, PPE, distancing, cancellation policies and protocols. And will revisit the notion of doing mobile work at that time as well.

- Appointments longer than 1 hour will be available
- Huxley the dog will be allowed to roam the house freely during work hours. If you would like to pet him, you must have clean hands
- You can choose if you would like to wear underwear or not during your session
- You can choose whether or not to keep your shoes on in the treatment room.
- Cash and cheques are accepted again.

We have no reason to believe that our protocols are not working. However with the rising Variant COVID cases, I have chosen to implement some small but impactful changes to continue to provide the highest standards of health safety. They are:
- Talking in the treatment room shall be kept to an absolute bare minimum
- Patients must wear underwear during the session
- Not offering more than 60 minutes at a time.

The Telus Health Eclaims portal is not working, I have made several attempts to fix this, and will continue to follow up with their customer service to get this settled. But it has now been about 3 weeks, and still no resolution. Im very sorry to those of you this affects, and hope that they can make the necessary changes to get the portal back up and running for us.

As per the BCCDC, all health care practitioners, their visitors and their patients must implement the usage of medical masks in their facility. While we are not considered to be a part of the "Public Health Care system" it is in the best interest of the therapist and patient to wear a 3 layer mask or a medical grade mask.

We are adapting to new requirements set forth by our governing bodies, as well as updating to stay aligned with our high standards. The new changes that have been made are below:
- Mandatory prescreen to be filled out between 24-48 hrs before your appointment
- Prescreen questions reflect the BC Self Assessment Tool
- 3 layer masks encouraged
- No more prescreening phone calls before your appointment
- Patient must clean hands prior to putting on (donning) and taking off (doffing) your mask.
- Avoidance of touching or adjusting your mask while in use.
- New policy for Health Care workers if they have been exposed, or who provide care for patients that have COVID - 19 see CLICK HERE

- Updated consent for massage therapy services

Your appointment includes 2-5 minutes before your treatment and 2-5 minutes after your treatment. If you are a person who needs longer to get changed / put shoes on / settle up, then we may need to reduce the hands on portion of your treatment to accommodate this. This will allow for more treatment times to be available per day with an appropriate length of time to sanitize between patients.

- People on the cancellation list will have priority to new availability that one-off's the regular schedule of 9:00-2:00. So if you would like to be notified when something comes up, please ask to be on this list.

At the moment I am able to offer only evening appointments for September until we know what their plan is. And then concurrently we will have to decide our comfort level on their plan. Likely the end of August / Early September we will know, and I will be able to hopefully open up September day slots.

Because of the overwhelming nature of this soft open, we have decided that we will temporarily not be able to take on new patients. As well, the mass email that was to go out on June 15th 2020 to inform the remaining people of our re-opening will be extended by 1 week.

We have been given the go ahead from the Provincial Government to be legally allowed to work again as of May 19th 2020, as long as we follow the requirements and guidelines that have been provided by the CMTBC, and approved by Dr. Bonnie Henry. I will work hard over the next few days to finish updating the website, and create the protocols and policies that conform to these new requirements.
I am still waiting for a few things to arrive by mail to assure that we have the safest environment possible, and will do a soft open of one client per day 7 days a week to start when the items have arrived. With a full reopen beginning June 15, 2020.

While RMT's are grouped into this phase, we still await our Provincial Health Officer to advise us on a standard of practice protocol. As per our Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry's statement - effective March 21, 2020, the RMT's have been ordered the "Immediate shut down of Registered Massage Therapy until further notice".
So I have temporarily shut off the online booking system and will be sending emails to each individual that is booked in currently to let them know of this.
